July 24, 2019 at LAX. Thank you Koyang Mark for dropping me off. I worked twelve hours the day before and when I got back home, two luggages were full of goodies /pasalubong courtesy of Superwoman my At, Ate Reggie and her family. And I planned to just bring one check-in bag. Hay, erase travel light.
Hello NAIA and Jollibee!!! Hello heat and humidity!!!:(
I went home primarily to give our last respect to Kong Alex. It also our way of giving honor to the values taught by our parents, Papang and Mamang.
Each time the month of July comes, I never fail to miss home, our fiesta and the novena mass. July 26 is the feast of our patron saint, my saint, St. Ann, Mary's mother. Mamang reared and groomed me to be a devotee. I am Michelle Ann! Mom, in her ways, showed me the power of Sta.Ana and Mama Mary's intercession. Few days before Kong Alex's death, I told Cleng I wish before I hit my 10th year in America, I can come home for the fiesta.
Coincidence, blessing in disguise, a miracle, prayer granted. I don't know but I was home on the feast day and attended the 5 AM mass. It was a bit melancholy, this is the mass Mamang used to attend every year. I see her "permanent spot" at the aisle church, missing her so much. Life will never be the same.
I will always come home to you, my dear Sta. Ana. Thank you for loving us, for the guidance and care. (Hi Mang, I imagined you seating on this exact spot).
