So when in Wisconsin, I learned that you have to:
1. Eat cheese.
Wisconsin is known as "America's Dairyland" because it is the leading producer of dairy products in the country. The state has a long history of cheese production, and it is associated with dairy and cheese industry. (From Google)
I found Wisconsin Cheese Mart at Highland Avenue in Milwaukee. The store says that it holds the largest selection of Wisconsin cheese. I TA (took advantage) of all the free cheese bites in the store. Haha!! I am a Cheese Miss.
2. Drink beer.
Spotted cow is ubiquitous in WI and the stuff of legend for beer fans who live out of state. As for what makes up the beer, it's a blend of Pilsner malt, white wheat and caramel malt. The water comes from a well on the brewery property and has a hard character to it and it is fermented with a German ale yeast. ( From beerandbrewing.com)
We had our late lunch at Speedo's Bar and Grill in Lake Geneva Downtown. The first thing I ordered was lime margarita but Austin, the young gentle server vouched for the Spotted Cow beer and I said yes to him. Wow!!!! The beer's flavor has fruitiness with mild sweetness and just a tinge of bitter and sour at the end. Dan Carey, the creator of the beer stated " I'm brewing a beer that is not loud, but is beautiful in its subtlety." Very well said and I agree. I wanted to bring a six-pack with me back in SoCal but I didn't. Coz I want to reunite with the Spotted Cow only when I come back to WI.
3. See the Bucks.
What a delightful surprise to see the Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee Bucks homecourt across the Wisconsin Cheese Mart. For a basketball girl like me, I literally jumped with joy to see Giannis' humongous face staring at me. This kid is great, I will see how he struts his stuff in the playoffs.
Drink. Eat. Travel.
